Behavioral Health Technician

Location: Tampa, FL

All Shifts Available- Full time, Part Time and PRN.

Characteristics of Position:

Provides support to persons served by guiding and encouraging their participation in daily treatment related activities aimed at improving their life situations.

Pre-requisite Requirements:

  • High School or GED
  • Valid FL Driver License
  • Ability to participate in crisis intervention and CPR/First Aid training and apply learned techniques, as needed.
  • Ability to pass Level II Background Screening. 

Preferred Attributes: 

  • Associate Degree or 60 college credit hours with focus on humans services field.
  • Bachelor Degree in human services related field.
  • Certification as Behavioral Health Tech.(CBHT)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Recovery Peer/Support Specialist (CRPS/CRRS).

(Addt'l compensation available for education/certification.)

Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Encourages persons served to attend and participation in daily treatment related activities
  • Engages persons served to talk about their mental health, substance use and other life circumstances.
  • Observes persons served for changes in behavior and documents as necessary.
  • Communicates regularly with co-workers, including, clinicians to ensure persons served receive appropriate treatment interventions.
  • Applies program rules and regulation to ensure a structured and stable living environment.
  • Performs pre-admission and routine searches to ensure a safe living environment for all residents.
  • May provide assistance with medication administration.
