Intake Worker

Location: Tampa, FL

Summary/Characteristics of Position:

The Intake Worker will provide direct, client-centered intervention and prevention services to youth presented to the Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC).

Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Completes admission and orientation documentation.
  • Interprets client handbook for admissions, as needed.
  • Greets law enforcement personnel and completes required documentation.
  • Searches client's property for contraband; Inventories and secures client's property.
  • Applies applicable program/department rules and regulations to persons served.
  • Monitors clients for changes in behavior to ensure adequate safeguards and client safety are maintained.
  • Motivates clients to participate in health screening services and intervention assessments.
  • Administers health screening and intervention assessments, records appropriate funding information.
  • Communicates with Department of Health related to required reporting outcomes.
  • Assists with phone contacts to parents, legal guardians, and law enforcement.
  • Document individual contact information, incidents, injury reports and grievances
  • Performs control room activities- screens incoming calls, monitors doors and cameras.
  • Collects urine samples, as required.
  • Performs related work, as assigned.

Pre-requisite Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • Must be able to fully participate in Welle (crisis intervention) and CPR/First Aid training.
  • Must be eligible for Level II background clearance.
  • Valid Florida Driver License

Preferred Attributes:

  • Prior experience working with at risk youth.
  • Associate degree, or 60 college credit hours, with concentration in a human service-related field.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a human service-related field.
  • Certified Behavioral Health Technician
  • Certified Nursing Assistance

Supervision: This position reports directly to the Program Supervisor/Director. This position does not supervise others

Physical Requirements: Safety/Health Considerations:

  • Standing, walking, carrying, stooping, speaking, and listening.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be physically capable of fully participating in Welle (crisis intervention) training

Travel: This position does not require overnight travel.
