Location: On-Site at our Adult Residential Housing program in Tarpon Springs, Florida

What You'll be Doing?

  • Serves as the team lead for other BHTs by providing support and mentorship.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of program policies and procedures.
  • Supports supervisory staff with scheduling, ordering, communications, and training.
  • Performs admission and intake responsibilities including orientation, documentation, and searches for contraband.
  • Communicates with clients to talk about their personal issues including dependency, delinquency, mental illness and/or substance misuse.
  • Observes clients for changes in behavior, monitors activities of clients, motivates clients to participate in activities, and guides and advises clients in their personal adjustment utilizing verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Provides supportive services including life skills, psycho-educational and recreational groups.
  • Interprets the client handbook for clients as needed; applies applicable rules and regulations to clients.
  • Makes frequent rounds of facility to ensure adequate safeguards and client safety are maintained.
  • Assists clients in preparing for school, court appearances, medical/dental appointments, or other outside activities.
  • Documents individual contacts, daily case notes, incident and injury reports and grievances.
  • Monitors and tracks compliance with self-administered medication process.
  • Assists clients in gathering/obtaining personal property when discharged.
  • Builds new case files and breaks down discharged client case files.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What is Required?

  • Associate degree, or a minimum of 60 college credit hours with 20 hours of concentration in a human service-related field and Certified Behavioral Health Technician OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a human service-related field.
  • Valid Florida Driver License.
  • Eligibility status, as determined by Level 2 background screening in accordance with Florida Statutes, Chapter 435 and/or Local Law.
  • Ability to stand, walk, carry, stoop, speak and listen.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to fully participate in Welle (crisis intervention) and CPR/First Aid training and apply to work setting, when required.
