Job Description

The Lead Licensed Practical Nurse provides training and supervision to all LPNs within the Receiving facility. It focuses on professional nursing functions while providing care and treatment to clients coping with or recovering from substance abuse addiction or with co-occurring substance and psychiatric disorders.

Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to regulatory bodies and licensing rules, guidelines, and all established protocol to carry out all duties required by contract, licensure, accreditation, and certification relative to program or service assignment.
  • Completes pre-admission medical screening of clients to determine admission eligibility; apply nursing principles and practices in the care and treatment of clients, administer and read PPDs, and makes assessment of clients' conditions and documents per services provided, completes and records vital signs, observes and assesses clients for deviations from normal conditions/behaviors.
  • Collaborates with physicians and follows recommendations as appropriate.
  • Implements physician's orders, assists physician in performing physical exam on clients, communicates as directed with physician concerning implementation of seclusion/restraint measures, follows-up on laboratory results and ensures physician receives results.
  • Within limits of licensure, administers medication/narcotics/treatments as prescribed by protocol or physician's order and documents each
  • Prepares narcotic and other drug reports, orders medications, inventories clinic supplies/medications
  • Ensures nursing support personnel carry out assigned duties correctly to agency model as directed

Program Specific

  • Provide direct supervision and training to other Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Monitor all pharmaceutical medications and maintain communication with Consulting Pharmacist.
  • Provide lead support with the Medication Assistance Treatment Program
  • Assist with staff scheduling and shift coverage.
  • Maintains all required records/reports to support quality/quantity of nursing services provided.

Pre-requisite Requirements:

  • Active Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with Florida Law.
  • Two (2) years of LPN experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver License.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position trains and supervises LPN's within the facility.

Program Specific

Provide direct supervision and training to other Licensed Practical Nurses.

Monitor all pharmaceutical medications and maintain communication with Consulting Pharmacist.

Monitor the Medication room, cut down supplies and order on an as needed basis.

 Ensure all billable and non-billable services are captured daily and inputted into Credible daily

 Ensure medical and medication emergencies are addressed to decrease liability.

Ensure all medication error are tracked and reported.

 Monitor Infectious Control and update all required binders.

 Monitor Infectious Control and update all required binders.

Order prescription medications and maintain communication with the Drug Shopppe.

Provide lead support with the Medication Assistance Treatment Program

Assist with staff scheduling and shift coverage.

Performs routine diagnostic tests, medical treatment, and procedures such as taking and recording temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.

 Assists in performing physical examinations of clients.

Reports any unusual symptoms of clients to supervisor.

 Provides documentation to and updates client records.

 Cleans work area.

Makes referrals for care/services as needed.

Maintains all required records/reports to support quality/quantity of nursing services provided.

Pre-requisite Requirements:

Active Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with Florida Law.

To (2) years of LPN experience

Must possess a valid Florida Drivers' License, industry accepted driving history and maintain vehicle insurance required by State of Florida.

If required to drive an ACTS' vehicle, must maintain drivers' license and history as listed about and participate in all transportation-related training activities including on-the-road driving test relative to appropriate and safe operation of motor vehicles.

 Ability to relate to clients from all social-economic class, race, sexual orientation and/or substance abuse/mental health problems

Flexible work schedule as needed and agree to work in an on-call capacity when necessary

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Reports to: This position reports directly to the Charge RN

Physical Requirements: Safety/Health Considerations:

Carrying, stooping, speaking, and listening.

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and lifting.

 Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: This job is in a secured, medically supervised, substance abuse receiving facility providing emergency assessment, detoxification, stabilization and short term (3-5 days) service. This role routinely uses computer, mobile devices, and standard office equipment.

Travel: Minimal travel required between ACTS and TPD services locations. This position does not require overnight travel.
