Summary/Characteristics
of Position:
The Therapist will provide client-centered
counseling services to promote recovery and coping skills related to substance
abuse, mental health, homelessness and/or criminal justice involvement.
Core
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Performs
psychosocial assessments identifying personal, psychological and environmental
needs/risks.
- Develops and
updates individualized treatment plans outlining identified issues, goals,
objectives and interventions to support progress, successful discharge and a
healthy post-discharge lifestyle.
- Provides counseling
services to include individual, group and family therapy.
- Observes
clients for behavioral changes and progress in treatment and engages clients to
talk about their issues including, but not limited to addiction, mental
illness, trauma, medications and recovery.
- Maintains clinical
charts and documentation of assigned clients.
- Provides
clinical guidance to team members ensuring evidence-based practices are
promoted and utilized in service delivery.
- Participates
in multidisciplinary team meetings and/or court hearings for progress review
- Develops
status and census report as required.
- Prepares and
coordinates discharge planning, gives consultation to parents/guardians, and
maintains professional communication to ensure linkage with referral sources.
- Adheres to
regulatory bodies and licensing rules, guidelines and established protocols to
carry out all duties required by contract, licensure, accreditation, and
certification.
- Assesses
clients for admission into treatment services and admits new clients, insuring
proper documentation
- Provides
transportation to clients for appointments.
- Performs
related work as required /assigned.
Pre-requisite Requirements:
- Master's degree
in social work, counseling, psychology or license eligible counseling degree
- Valid Florida Driver's License
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to
maintain strict confidentiality standards.
- Ability to relate
to clients from all social-economic class, race, sexual orientation and/or substance
abuse/mental health problems.
Preferred:
- Previous experience working in behavioral healthcare setting
- Certified Addictions Professional (CAP)
Supervision: This position reports directly to the Clinical
Supervisor or Program Director This position does not provide direct supervision
to others.
Physical Requirements: Safety/Health
Considerations:
- Standing,
walking, carrying, stooping, speaking, and listening.
- Must be able to
lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be physically capable of fully participating in verbal and physical (crisis
intervention) and CPR/First Aid training
Travel: This
position does not require overnight travel.
