Interns- All levels

ACTS partners with many academic institutions to provide students, currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate coursework, an opportunity to gain 'hands on' experience as they pursue a degree in the human services field.
ACTS has many field placement options that include an array of services and populations served.

  • Acute Care/Crisis Services- Adult and Youth
  • Outpatient Services- Adult and Youth
  • Veteran's Services
  • Residential Treatment Programs- Adult and Youth
  • Supportive Housing Programs
  • Criminal Justice/Offender Programs?


Working under the supervision of an assigned site/clinical supervisor, interns will have opportunities to observe, learn and/or demonstrate various tasks related to the human services field.  These tasks  include, but certainly are not limited  to:

  • Empathetic communication with clients regarding addiction, mental illness, and recovery
  • Client admission and orientation process
  • Administration and interpretation of screening/assessment instruments
  • Development of  treatment or service plans
  • Individual, group, and/or family counseling sessions
  • Discharge planning
  • Referral/linkage to community resources, including social, legal and educational providers
  • Interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
  • Clinical supervision sessions


Currently we have internship opportunities for:

  • Behavioral Health Technicians (for those enrolled in an Associate's level program) 
  • Counselors(for those enrolled in a Bachelor's level program)
  • Detention Screeners (for those enrolled in a Bachelor's level program- Criminal Justice)
  • Therapists(for those enrolled in a Master's level program)
