Characteristics of Position:
Support the agency's mission to provide consumer-centered care to persons with mental and/or substance use disorders. Engage consumers who are identified as meeting program criteria in order to support and encourage their involvement in continuing care and treatment. Communicate emphatically with clients regarding addiction, mental illness, medications, and recovery. Support client self-determination, personal responsibility, hope, and empowerment inherent in self-directed recovery. Facilitate and teach role recovery skills and concepts.
Communications - Communicate with supervisor and established chain of command regarding daily operations and/or incidents; document all required information in a clear, legible, timely, concise and accurate manner.
Relationship - Respects authority; models direct and clear communications with peers, clients and subordinates; culturally aware and respectful of differences.
Administrative - Precisely documents events and transactions specific to job duties in approved Agency formats; understands and adheres to administration and program operating procedures.
Technical - Utilizes Agency communication devices and information technology as a business tool; proficient, as required, in the use of Outlook, DATIS, Train Caster, KIS and related IT systems and software applications.

Must have personal history as a consumer of mental health services and/or have provided direct care to a family member who was diagnosed with a mental health condition.
Knowledgeable about recovery resources in the community
All ACTS, Inc. employees must be able and willing to work when expected to accommodate program and/or agency needs, participate in the agency's Quality Improvement Program and attend all assigned/required trainings, practice on-the-job safety at all times, and demonstrate the ability to communicate and work with others and be respectful of peers, supervisors, clients, guests, etc. If required by contract or administrative rule, must fully participate in NAPPI (crisis intervention) training and able to apply same to work setting.
Currently a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in Florida, or eligible for and actively in process of attaining CPRS certification.

Services are provided at the program site, and in community or home-based settings.
Quality of Work Expected:
Level commensurate with satisfactory Mental Health Peer Specialist performance.
Quantity of Work Expected:
Commensurate with level necessary to fully meet obligations.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Mentors and provides recovery-based coaching for program residents to assist in pursuing his/her individual health and wellness.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Administrator-Housing/Residential Services Coordinator. This position does not provide supervision to others.
Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Provides individualized health coaching to residents in obtaining their health objectives.
Teaches/mentors individually and/or in group settings about managing mental and physical health.
Supports residents in learning how to make good choices for themselves.
Promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, compliance with program treatment plan and engagement with primary care and other ancillary providers.
Demonstrates ways to become empowered and self-responsible.
Demonstrates ability to work with consumers with diverse backgrounds.
Works closely with Program Administrator/Residential Services Coordinatorand Case Manager to engage residents in appropriate serves and resources and assist with coordination of care.
Provides self-help recovery services (i.e. WRAP, Pathways to Recovery) and/or other peer wellness services.
Completes all reporting and documentation requirements.
Maintain appropriate professional standards and provides appropriate follow-up for residents required.
